Rote memory and attention span

High-Functioning Autistic people struggle in certain remembering and memorising skills. They also have different attention spans towards different things. Here is a list of common traits and characteristics related to rote memory and attention span of High-Functioning Autistic people.

  1. High-Functioning Autistic people have a short attention span for most lessons.

  2. High-Functioning Autistic people have difficulty with reading comprehension.

  3. High-Functioning Autistic people have excellent rote memory in some areas.

  4. High-Functioning Autistic people have exceptionally high skill in some areas but very low in others.

  5. High-Functioning Autistic people show resistance to or an inability to follow directions.

  6. Sometimes, High-Functioning Autistic people have difficulty with fine motor activities, such as using scissors

    and gluing.

  7. Sometimes, High-Functioning Autistic people have difficulty transitioning from one activity to another in school.
